The lecture examines the need to reduce manufacturing cost and to support substrates beyond the eighth generation, at which point liquid crystal substrates will exceed 2m in size. The guiding concepts for equipment to reduce COO are:

  -2 Realizing highly efficient manufacturing processes (reduced the processing time)
  -3 Reducing equipment foot prints
  -4 Improving efficiency of use of power and materials
  -5 Reducing maintenance costs
The lecture will consider PI inkjet coating equipment, used to deposit a correctly aligned film in the LCD cell process, and the vertical type transport equipment used in the wet cleaning process as manufacturing equipment that meets the guiding concepts.
